Our History

We are Karatu’s first B&B, established in 1998, and have proudly earned recognition from respected travel authorities, including Rough Guides and Tripadvisor as a preferred accommodation. Our many returning guests and groups reflect our commitment to genuine hospitality and exceptional service. Today, we are also proud to be one of Karatu’s pioneering eco-friendly establishments. Ideally located along the main road, Ngorongoro Lodge is the perfect gateway to Tanzania’s iconic northern circuit — including Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Manyara, and Tarangire. We also serve as a starting point for mountain climbs such as Kilimanjaro and Meru, as well as journeys to Zanzibar’s beaches and the southern and western parks like Selous, Ruaha, Mahale, and Gombe.
